Free Bing keyword research

Free Bing Keyword Tool

Research keywords specifically for Bing and Microsoft search. Find related searches and questions, inspect source-scoped demand when an approved source is available, classify intent, and evaluate organic competition with DigestSEO Bing KD—without relabeling Google data as Bing data.

Try:

Market, query language, and provider scope are stored separately. DigestSEO never translates your query behind the scenes or substitutes Google volume for Bing volume.

Bing keyword results

Start with the exact phrase, then expand with Bing evidence.

DigestSEO checks its Bing-scoped corpus first. When a permitted zero-cost source is unavailable, the tool keeps unsupported metrics blank instead of manufacturing values.

Unavailable ≠ 0. Unavailable is not zero. A blank value means there is no trustworthy, currently permitted observation for that keyword, market, and source scope.

Freshness matters. Permitted historical data may be shown with its age when fresh free capacity is unavailable. Data is never retained beyond the source's allowed retention window.

Organic ≠ paid. Bing KD is calculated from Bing organic results and fresh domain-strength evidence. Microsoft Ads competition is never used as organic difficulty.

Source transparency

Bing data is only useful when the source scope is honest.

Bing and Microsoft demand are not the same label

A true Bing-specific source may be labeled Bing Search Volume. Microsoft Advertising data can cover Microsoft-owned-and-operated search or a wider search network, so DigestSEO labels that scope as Microsoft Search Volume or Microsoft Search Network Volume instead of calling it Bing.com volume.

Bing KD is DigestSEO-derived

DigestSEO Bing KD uses the same 0–100 competition methodology as the wider keyword platform, but the ranking evidence must come from a Bing organic SERP. Advertising competition and suggested bids are separate paid-search metrics and never feed the organic KD score.

Missing data stays missing

Every provider has different markets, fields, quotas, and retention rules. If a legitimate source cannot be used, its free allowance is exhausted, or its terms are unclear, DigestSEO serves permitted cached/local evidence or marks the field unavailable. It does not fall through to a paid plan.

Zero mandatory API spend

Cold provider calls are budgeted and atomically reserved before use. Cached lookups cost no external credits. There is no automatic top-up, paid LLM, paid embedding service, vector database, ad campaign, or hidden Microsoft Advertising spend in the keyword research path.

How to use it

Turn a Bing seed keyword into a defensible search decision.

01

Enter the phrase people would actually search

Use a topic, product, problem, service, or question. DigestSEO sends the phrase you entered for the chosen market and language; it does not silently translate it into English.

02

Separate demand, intent, and competition

Read search volume with its exact source scope, use deterministic intent to understand the likely task, and inspect Bing KD separately from Microsoft Advertising competition.

03

Validate the SERP before you commit

Look at the Bing results when available. A keyword can have attractive demand but the wrong page type, strong incumbents, or a SERP composition that does not fit what you can realistically publish.

04

Export and continue the workflow

Download the visible results as CSV, compare broader opportunities in DigestSEO's general keyword research tool, audit the page you create, and measure real performance after publishing.

The basics

What is Bing keyword research?

Bing keyword research is the process of studying the queries people use in Bing and the Microsoft search ecosystem so you can choose topics, pages, and offers using platform-specific evidence. The workflow resembles ordinary keyword research—discover phrases, understand intent, estimate demand, inspect the search results, and evaluate competition—but the evidence should come from Bing or a clearly labeled Microsoft source. A Google keyword database can be useful for broader market research, but it is not proof of Bing demand.

That distinction matters because search engines do not have identical audiences, result pages, ranking orders, feature mixes, or query distributions. A phrase that is large on Google may be smaller on Microsoft search, and a modest Google term can still matter to a business whose customers over-index on Bing. Even when the words are identical, the domains occupying the top results can differ enough to change the practical ranking opportunity.

The purpose of this tool is therefore not to repaint a generic keyword table with a Bing logo. DigestSEO keeps the search engine, market, language, provider, metric type, network scope, observation date, freshness window, and retention policy attached to the evidence. If that provenance is missing or the source cannot be used safely, the corresponding metric remains unavailable.

What this Bing Keyword Tool can show

The useful default view combines the seed phrase with Bing-scoped relationships and the metrics that are actually available for each row. Related searches and question queries can come from a permitted Bing SERP observation. Microsoft Advertising Keyword Planner can provide keyword ideas and historical advertising research fields when an authorized use is allowed. DigestSEO's own corpus can also surface lexically similar phrases, but those rows are explicitly treated as corpus matches rather than pretending they were suggested by Bing.

Search intent is local and deterministic, so it does not consume a provider call. The classifier uses informational, commercial, transactional, and navigational classes, with native-language rules for the site's supported languages. When a Bing SERP is already available for a query, that evidence can be used elsewhere in the product without spending another search credit solely for intent.

Bing KD is different again. It is DigestSEO's 0–100 estimate of organic competition calculated from the strength of domains ranking in Bing. Search volume, a 12-month trend, Microsoft Ads competition, and suggested bid can appear beside it, but the tool preserves the distinction between organic and paid-search evidence.

Bing keyword data vs Google keyword data

Google and Bing keyword data answer related but different questions. Google demand estimates describe Google-oriented behavior or a provider's model of it. Bing-specific observations describe Bing behavior. Microsoft Advertising metrics can describe Microsoft-owned-and-operated search or a wider Microsoft search network depending on the selected network criterion. Those scopes should not be collapsed into one universal number.

The same caution applies to result pages. Ranking difficulty is partly a property of the SERP you need to beat. If Google ranks ten domains and Bing ranks a different mix, a difficulty calculation based on Google's top ten is not a Bing difficulty score. DigestSEO therefore requires Bing organic results for Bing KD. It can reuse a domain-strength observation because the strength of a domain is not search-engine-specific, but the set and positions of ranking domains must come from Bing.

Use broader keyword research when you need a general market map. Use Bing-specific research when Bing itself matters to the decision. Comparing both can be valuable, but comparison only works if neither side is mislabeled.

First-party tools

Bing Webmaster Tools Keyword Research

Bing Webmaster Tools includes a first-party Keyword Research experience for verified site owners. Microsoft's public help material describes capabilities such as Bing search volume, volume trends, related keywords, question keywords, newly discovered terms, country and language filters, device filters, global breakdowns, top Bing URLs, and associated topics. Those features make the Webmaster Tools interface one of the most interesting sources for genuinely Bing-specific research.

API availability is a separate question from what the private dashboard can display. Microsoft retired the legacy Bing Webmaster SOAP and POX APIs on August 31, 2026. Older documentation for operations such as GetKeywordStats and GetRelatedKeywords can still be found, but DigestSEO does not use retired interfaces and does not reverse engineer authenticated dashboard calls. At the time this page was implemented, a documented current REST equivalent for the rich Keyword Research UI could not be verified.

As a result, DigestSEO treats Bing Webmaster keyword research as unavailable to the public tool until Microsoft documents a current supported API route and the applicable terms clearly permit the requested public use. That is less exciting than showing a full table, but it is materially better than building production infrastructure on an interface Microsoft has already retired.

Microsoft Advertising Keyword Planner

Microsoft Advertising's Keyword Planner and Ad Insight API are designed for advertising research. The current GetKeywordIdeas operation can return keyword ideas and selected attributes such as monthly search counts, advertiser competition, suggested bid, relevance, ad impression share, source, and targeting-aware results. The API requires a Microsoft Advertising account, OAuth authorization, a production developer token, and the appropriate customer/account identifiers. DigestSEO never creates or funds an advertising campaign merely to unlock keyword data.

Network semantics matter. Microsoft's OwnedAndOperatedOnly criterion is documented as Microsoft sites and select traffic; it should not automatically be described as Bing.com-only demand. The wider OwnedAndOperatedAndSyndicatedSearch option represents the entire Microsoft Advertising Network. DigestSEO stores network scope separately and uses labels such as Microsoft Search Volume when that is what the source actually represents.

There is also a product-rights gate. An API exposing data does not automatically grant a public website permission to redistribute it anonymously or build a permanent reusable corpus. Microsoft's API terms restrict redistribution and database copying in ways that require a conservative interpretation for this use case. The adapter is therefore implemented but disabled in production until the public-display, caching, retention, and derived-data permissions are resolved explicitly.

How to read Bing and Microsoft search volume

Search volume is an estimate or historical statistic attached to a defined source, market, language, network, and time period. It is not a live counter of every person who typed the phrase. When DigestSEO can expose a true Bing-specific figure from an approved source, it can label that value Bing Search Volume. When Microsoft Advertising supplies the observation for Microsoft-owned-and-operated search, the honest label is Microsoft Search Volume.

Monthly history is more informative than a single average because it exposes seasonality and direction. A twelve-month series can show whether a phrase is steady, cyclical, rising, or fading. DigestSEO keeps individual monthly observations when the source permits storage, then draws a lightweight trend rather than hiding the series behind one opaque score.

Do not compare two volumes until you know they share compatible scopes. A United States English Microsoft search estimate and a global Bing figure are not interchangeable. Similarly, a blank cell is not zero demand. It means the tool lacks a trustworthy, permitted observation for that exact combination.

What is DigestSEO Bing Keyword Difficulty?

DigestSEO Bing KD is a search-engine-specific application of DigestSEO's organic competition methodology. The method considers the available domain-level authority of ranking sites, referring-domain breadth, extra weight for the top three positions, and the concentration of strong domains across the first page. It produces a 0–100 estimate with a confidence value based on evidence coverage.

The methodology is intentionally the same core method used elsewhere in the keyword platform. The search engine changes the SERP evidence, not the definition of the score. A Bing KD calculation therefore starts from Bing's top organic results. If too few ranking domains have fresh approved authority evidence, the tool reports insufficient evidence instead of guessing.

KD should support a decision, not make it for you. A lower score does not guarantee a ranking, and a higher score does not make a query impossible. Your topical authority, page quality, relevance, links, technical health, brand signals, and the exact intent all affect the real challenge.

Bing KD is not Microsoft Ads competition

Microsoft Advertising competition is an advertising-market field. It reflects competition among advertisers within the relevant Microsoft Advertising context. Organic ranking difficulty asks a different question: how strong are the pages and domains occupying Bing's organic results, and how difficult might it be to displace them?

Mixing those concepts creates a convincing-looking but invalid metric. DigestSEO keeps Ad Competition in its own field and never places it in the Bing KD column. The same rule applies to suggested bid. A high suggested bid can indicate advertiser value or scarcity, but it is not evidence that the organic SERP is difficult. A keyword can have low ad competition and a strong organic SERP, or the reverse.

How to find lower-competition Bing keywords

Start with a seed that describes the real problem or offer, then inspect Bing-related searches, questions, and more specific modifiers. Questions can reveal informational subtopics; product or service modifiers can expose commercial intent; location, audience, use-case, and constraint modifiers can narrow a broad topic into a page you can satisfy more precisely.

Then inspect the SERP instead of assuming that a longer phrase is easier. Long-tail queries are often more specific, but length alone does not lower competition. Look at the ranking domains, whether the results match your intended page type, how concentrated the authority is, and whether there are weaker or highly specialized results you can realistically outperform with better relevance.

Finally, keep business fit in the loop. The easiest keyword in a spreadsheet can still be worthless if it attracts the wrong user. Intent, audience, conversion path, and your ability to create the best-fitting page matter as much as the apparent competition.

Bing search intent

Intent describes the task behind a query. Informational searches are primarily about learning or answering a question. Commercial searches compare solutions, tools, products, or providers. Transactional searches contain stronger action signals such as buying, booking, subscribing, or downloading. Navigational searches aim for a particular brand, login, support area, or destination.

Many real queries are mixed. Someone searching for a software category may be learning and comparing at the same time. DigestSEO can expose a secondary intent when deterministic evidence supports it. The point is not to pretend intent classification is perfect; it is to prevent volume from becoming the only decision variable.

For multilingual research, DigestSEO classifies the original query rather than translating it into English at runtime. That keeps the phrase, market, and language aligned with the search the user is actually investigating.

Bing SEO vs Google SEO

The broad fundamentals of search optimization remain familiar across engines: crawlable pages, clear information architecture, useful content, relevant titles and headings, fast and accessible experiences, strong internal linking, credible external signals, and a page that actually satisfies the query. You do not need a separate internet for Bing.

Platform-specific research still matters because the evidence layer differs. Bing may rank a different set of domains, expose different SERP features, and show different query demand. That can change which keyword is worth targeting, which competitors deserve inspection, and how difficult the organic opportunity looks. Treating one engine's metrics as universal hides those differences.

After choosing a Bing opportunity, use a technical audit to verify the page itself, then measure real search performance where first-party reporting is available. Research is the hypothesis; impressions, clicks, rankings, and conversions are the feedback loop.

Bing, AI search, and Copilot

Microsoft connects Bing search experiences with AI products including Copilot, but ordinary Bing keyword volume is not a measurement of Copilot prompt volume. A traditional search query and an AI conversation can overlap in topic without being the same behavioral dataset. DigestSEO therefore does not convert Bing search volume into an AI visibility metric.

Bing research can still help identify entities, questions, products, terminology, and informational demand that may matter across discovery channels. If your goal is visibility inside AI answers, measure that channel separately. DigestSEO's GEO and AI visibility tooling is designed for that different evidence problem, while this page remains deliberately focused on Bing and Microsoft search.

Practical workflow

How to use Bing keywords in a real SEO workflow

Begin with a business-relevant topic rather than a random high-volume phrase. Use the Bing tool to inspect related language, questions, intent, source-scoped demand, and the competitive SERP. Group terms that clearly share the same user task, and split terms that imply different page types or stages of the journey. A comparison query, a tutorial, and a transactional service phrase may need different pages even when they contain the same core noun.

Next, inspect the page you intend to create or improve. Make sure the title, primary heading, body structure, internal links, metadata, structured data, and technical delivery support the chosen intent. Avoid stuffing every related phrase into one document. Cover the subject naturally and give important subtopics enough depth to be useful.

After publishing, validate assumptions with observed performance. Ranking and demand estimates are inputs, not permanent truths. Use actual search data, conversion behavior, and later SERP checks to decide whether to expand, consolidate, retarget, or leave a page alone.

Data sources, freshness, and limitations

DigestSEO treats provenance as part of the data model. A metric observation carries its platform, market, language, provider, metric type, network scope, observation time, source update time where available, freshness window, stale window, and retention policy. Bing SERP relationships are kept distinct from Google-derived relationships, while generic lexical similarity is allowed only as a clearly labeled discovery aid.

Provider terms can be stricter than provider technology. A service may technically return a useful response while prohibiting republication, persistent storage, or public display. DigestSEO does not interpret an API key as permission to ignore those rules. Unknown storage rights map to a do-not-store policy, and session-only evidence never enters the persistent corpus.

Free capacity is also finite. Provider budgets are reserved atomically before a cold request so concurrent searches cannot double-spend the remaining free allowance. When capacity is exhausted, the public tool falls back to permitted cached or stale evidence and partial results. There is no paid fallback and no fabricated number added merely to make the table look complete.

Bing Keyword Tool FAQ

Is this Bing Keyword Tool free?

Yes. DigestSEO's production path is designed for zero mandatory API, database, and inference spend. Cached results are reused first, external free allowances are budgeted, and the tool degrades to permitted cached or partial data rather than purchasing credits.

Does Bing have a keyword planner?

Microsoft Advertising provides Keyword Planner and the Ad Insight GetKeywordIdeas API for advertising research. Bing Webmaster Tools also has a separate first-party Keyword Research experience for verified sites. They are different products with different data semantics and access requirements.

How do I find Bing search volume?

Use a source that actually measures Bing or clearly labeled Microsoft search demand. DigestSEO only calls a value Bing Search Volume when the source scope supports that claim. Microsoft Advertising network figures are labeled according to their Microsoft search scope instead.

Is Bing keyword research different from Google keyword research?

Yes in the evidence layer. The research workflow is similar, but demand, audiences, ranking domains, SERP features, and competition can differ. Google search volume is not substituted into a Bing volume field.

What does Bing KD mean?

Bing KD is DigestSEO's 0–100 estimate of organic competition using Bing's organic results plus available domain-strength and referring-domain evidence. It is not a Microsoft metric and it is not advertising competition.

Is Microsoft Ads competition the same as SEO difficulty?

No. Microsoft Ads competition describes advertiser competition. Organic SEO difficulty describes the strength of the organic results you need to outrank. DigestSEO keeps those fields separate.

Why are some Bing metrics unavailable?

A metric is left blank when DigestSEO lacks a trustworthy exact observation, a free quota is unavailable, a market is unsupported, or the source's public-display or retention rights are not clear. Unavailable never means zero.

Do I need a Microsoft Advertising account to use this page?

No account is required for the public DigestSEO interface. Microsoft Advertising API access on DigestSEO's backend remains disabled unless the required authorization and public-use rights are explicitly resolved. The page can still use DigestSEO-owned and other approved evidence when available.

Does Bing Webmaster Tools provide keyword research?

Yes, the Bing Webmaster Tools interface documents a Keyword Research product with Bing-specific demand and idea features. DigestSEO does not use the retired SOAP/POX keyword operations and will not reverse engineer the private dashboard; a current supported REST equivalent must be documented before that source can back this public tool.
