This is a file discovery and count check, not a crawl of the listed pages. It does not test indexability or guarantee Google indexing. The public check is limited to the same hostname, 50 files, and bounded file sizes.

Sitemap checker FAQs
How do I find a website's sitemap?
Look for Sitemap declarations in robots.txt, then check the standard sitemap filenames. This tool checks both and opens the immediate children of an XML sitemap index.
Does a 404 at /sitemap.xml mean the site is broken?
Not necessarily. The site may publish a different sitemap declared in robots.txt. A 404 on a declared sitemap or index child is worth fixing.
Does a valid sitemap guarantee indexing?
No. A sitemap helps search engines discover URLs. To evaluate redirects, noindex, canonicals, or actual page health, run a crawl or inspect the URLs in Search Console.
